In André Seigers short film The Engineer’s Voice, Konrad Siegers completes his articulation training. Siegers’ muscles twitch barely noticeably as he struggles with the words. He uses repetitive exercises to counter the progression of his illness. The well-organized home is another support against the loss of control. His voice is to be preserved in a speech program, which is important to his father. Her echo sings from the cassette player, the sound of the future is electronic.

The title design explores the loss of language and voice, as well as the finite nature of existence. Through phonetic transcription and hyphenation, the title design visualizes the protagonist’s language exercises and shapes the audience’s reading behaviour.
